The 1973 Petrus is dark crimson and still quite deep-coloured! Claretty – more left than right bank on nose. Rich, dense and still very much alive. Long. Not the sweetness of the 1972 but very obviously noble and concentrated. Great balance and a dry finish. Very firm and even quite youthful, even if it lacks opulence. This could be quite difficult to identify blind..
